Terms of Use
The rules for using Chessmate, including subscriptions, content, acceptable use, and service limits.
Last updated: July 2, 2026
Agreement
These Terms of Use govern your access to and use of Chessmate, including the Chessmate mobile app, website, opening-training content, and Chessmate Premium subscriptions.
By using Chessmate, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use Chessmate.
The Service
Chessmate helps players learn chess openings through curated lines, recall practice, spaced review, and related training tools. Chessmate is an educational training product, not a chess engine, tournament service, gambling product, or guarantee of chess results.
Accounts And Devices
The current app can be used without creating a Chessmate account. Some subscription and purchase state is handled by the App Store, RevenueCat, and your device. You are responsible for keeping your device, Apple account, and purchase credentials secure.
Subscriptions
- Chessmate may offer free access and paid subscription plans, including weekly, monthly, and yearly options shown in the app.
- Prices, trial availability, renewal periods, and plan features are displayed before purchase and may vary by country, currency, platform, promotion, or app-store configuration.
- Subscriptions are billed through the App Store or another purchase platform shown at checkout. That platform's payment, cancellation, refund, tax, and renewal rules apply.
- Unless canceled through the purchase platform, subscriptions may renew automatically. Deleting Chessmate does not cancel a subscription.
- Premium access may include additional opening lines, review modes, challenge modes, and future opening content as those features are made available.
Acceptable Use
- Do not reverse engineer, scrape, copy, resell, or redistribute Chessmate content or app functionality except where applicable law expressly allows it.
- Do not interfere with Chessmate's operation, security, subscriptions, analytics, infrastructure, or app-store integrations.
- Do not use Chessmate to violate law, infringe rights, harass others, or attempt unauthorized access to systems or data.
- Do not remove copyright, trademark, attribution, or ownership notices from Chessmate or its content.
Content And Intellectual Property
Chessmate, including its design, app experience, software, text, course structure, explanations, branding, and original content, is owned by Chessmate or its licensors and is protected by intellectual property laws.
Chess opening moves and public-domain chess facts may be freely known, but Chessmate's selection, arrangement, explanations, training flows, and product presentation are protected.
Feedback
If you send ideas, suggestions, bug reports, or other feedback, you allow us to use that feedback to improve Chessmate without owing compensation or attribution.
Third-Party Services
Chessmate depends on third-party services such as Apple, RevenueCat, PostHog, AppsFlyer, hosting providers, and support tools. Their services may be governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
Availability And Changes
We may update, add, remove, suspend, or discontinue features, content, pricing, plans, or availability. We try to keep Chessmate reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
No Warranty
Chessmate is provided as is and as available. To the fullest extent allowed by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, accuracy, availability, and uninterrupted operation.
Limitation Of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Chessmate and its operators will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost data, lost goodwill, or chess results arising from your use of or inability to use Chessmate.
Termination
You may stop using Chessmate at any time. We may suspend or terminate access if we believe you violated these terms, created risk, or used Chessmate in a way that harms the service or other users. Termination does not automatically cancel app-store subscriptions; manage subscriptions through the purchase platform.
Changes To These Terms
We may update these terms as Chessmate changes. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, when appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or on the website. Continued use of Chessmate after changes means you accept the updated terms.
