A plain-English summary of what Chessmate collects, why it is used, and how to reach us about it.

Overview

Chessmate is an opening-training app. We collect only the information we need to run the app, improve the training experience, support subscriptions, measure attribution, prevent abuse, and answer support requests.

This policy applies to the Chessmate mobile app and the Chessmate website at www.trychessmate.com.

Information We Collect

  • App activity and product analytics, such as screens viewed, onboarding progress, selected plans, training feature usage, and app lifecycle events.
  • Subscription and purchase information, such as product identifiers, entitlement status, trial status, restore events, and an app user identifier used by our subscription provider. Apple processes App Store payments; we do not receive your full payment card number.
  • Device and technical information, such as app version, operating system, device type, network-derived information, and identifiers used to operate analytics, subscriptions, and attribution.
  • Attribution information, when attribution services are configured, such as install source, conversion data, deep-link data, and an AppsFlyer identifier that may be shared with RevenueCat to understand subscription performance.
  • Website analytics and attribution information, such as pages viewed, button and link clicks, use of the interactive chessboard demo, App Store link clicks, referrers, campaign parameters, and browser-based attribution identifiers used to connect landing-page journeys with RevenueCat subscription events when configured.
  • Support information you choose to send us, such as your email address, message content, screenshots, and other details needed to respond.
  • Local training data, such as opening progress and review state, is primarily stored on your device. We may receive analytics events about how app features are used, but Chessmate does not require you to create a personal profile for local training.

App Store Privacy Summary

For App Store privacy labels, Chessmate discloses user IDs, device IDs, purchase history, and product interaction data. These data types may be linked to your identity through your account, device, or app-specific identifiers.

User IDs and device IDs may be used for analytics, app functionality, and our advertising or marketing measurement, including install attribution and campaign measurement. Because attribution providers may use these identifiers for advertising measurement, we disclose user IDs and device IDs as used for tracking.

Purchase history and product interaction data are used for app functionality and analytics. We do not currently use purchase history or product interaction data for tracking.

How We Use Information

  • Provide and maintain opening courses, review flows, paywalls, subscriptions, restores, and customer support.
  • Understand which parts of onboarding, training, and subscriptions work well or need improvement.
  • Measure whether marketing campaigns lead to installs, trials, and subscriptions.
  • Detect errors, diagnose technical issues, secure the service, and prevent misuse.
  • Comply with legal, accounting, tax, app store, and platform requirements.

Service Providers

We use trusted providers to operate Chessmate. These providers process information for us or for app-store billing and platform services.

  • PostHog for product analytics and screen/event measurement in the app and website.
  • DataFast for website analytics, funnel measurement, and revenue attribution when RevenueCat subscription events include matching attribution identifiers.
  • Google Analytics for website analytics, SEO acquisition reporting, and campaign measurement.
  • RevenueCat for subscriptions, entitlements, purchase restoration, customer center, and subscription status.
  • AppsFlyer for mobile attribution and campaign measurement when configured.
  • Apple App Store services for app distribution, in-app purchases, payment processing, refunds, and platform account controls.
  • Hosting, infrastructure, build, and support tools that help us operate the website and app.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information with service providers only as needed to operate Chessmate, comply with law, complete app-store billing and refunds, analyze app performance, or protect our rights and users.

If Chessmate is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy or a policy with equivalent protections.

Your Choices

  • You can manage or cancel App Store subscriptions through your Apple account settings.
  • You can limit mobile ad tracking or reset advertising identifiers through your device settings where available.
  • You can limit website analytics and attribution identifiers through your browser settings, private browsing mode, or cookie-blocking tools.
  • You can contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or restriction of information associated with you, subject to legal and technical limits.
  • You can stop using Chessmate and delete the app at any time. Deleting the app removes local data from that device, but it may not cancel subscriptions or delete records held for billing, legal, security, or support purposes.

Retention

We keep information for as long as needed to provide Chessmate, maintain subscription and support records, analyze and improve the app, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. We may retain aggregated or de-identified information that no longer identifies you.

Children

Chessmate is not directed to children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

International Processing

Chessmate and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Those countries may have privacy laws different from the laws where you live.

Changes

We may update this policy as Chessmate changes. When we make material changes, we will update the date above and, when appropriate, provide additional notice in the app or on the website.
